MINI-RETREAT WITH ZEN MASTER THICH TINH TU - SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 2009

Published under News and Special Events

From time to time, we can set aside some time for a retreat or a day of mindfulness so we can sit, walk slowly, smile, eat lunch with friends and enjoy being together as though we are the happiest people on Earth.

This is not just a retreat, it is a treat.

–Thich Nhat Hanh

The Broward Lotus Sangha and Tu Viên Húõng Hai
Are pleased to invite you to a Mini-Retreat
Led by Zen Master Thich Tinh Tu
Sunday, April 27th, 2008
in Davie, FL
From 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Thich Tinh Tu is a Monastic Dharma Teacher and member of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s Tiep Hien Order. For many years Thich Nhat Hanh held his retreats for the Vietnamese community at Master Thich Tinh Tu’s Kim Son Monastery in California.

The Mini-Retreat will be conducted in English and Vietnamese in Plum Village style. In the morning, we will enjoy periods of chanting, sitting, and walking meditation, as well as Thay Nhat Hanh’s Mindful Movements, followed by Dharma Teachings from Zen Master Thich Tinh Tu. In the afternoon, we will enjoy periods of guided meditation, chanting, and tea meditation, as well as Dharma Discussions and Mindful Sharing from the four-fold Sangha. This Mini-Retreat will provide a wonderful opportunity for those who want to deepen their mindfulness practice with time for reflection and silence.

In the Buddhist spirit of generosity and inclusiveness, this event is offered free of charge and open to all practitioners. However, your generosity in providing a donation or Dana for the dharma teacher and the monastic and lay Sanghas is gratefully accepted and encouraged as, without it, we would be unable to continue providing these services to the community. Your kind donation helps support the activities of the Sangha (e.g., defray the costs associated with offering retreat space, dharma teachings and activities, beverages and meals) and is greatly appreciated.

For more information: click here.
To register, please e-mail the Sangha . Directions and specific instructions for participation will be sent to those who register. Please register early as we need to know how many meals to provide.

Thank you and a Lotus Flower.

Day of Mindfulness Led by Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue-Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Published under News and Special Events

The Broward Lotus Sangha
and
The Vietnamese Buddhist Cultural Center of Florida
Are pleased to invite you to a
Day of Mindfulness
In the Tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhẩt Hạnh
Led by Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue
Sunday, February 22nd, 2009
In Davie, FL
From 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue is a Monastic Dharma Teacher who was ordained as a Buddhist monk by Zen Master Thich Nhẩt Hạnh (Thây) in Plum Village, France, in 1992. He currently serves as the Abbott of Tu Viện Hương Hải, a Vietnamese Buddhist Monastery in Florida.

This Plum Village-style Day of Mindfulness (DOM), conducted in English and Vietnamese, will provide a wonderful opportunity for those who want to deepen their mindfulness practice with time for reflection and silence in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhẩt Hạnh. Throughout the day, we will enjoy periods of sitting and walking meditation, chanting, and mindful movements, as well as Deep Relaxation, a Dharma Talk by Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue and Dharma Sharing from the four-fold Sangha. We will enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch, tea ceremony, and dinner lovingly prepared by the monastic and lay Sanghas. There will also be an opportunity for those who wish to formally take the 5 Mindfulness Trainings to do so at the end of the day.

Please arrive before 8:00 A.M. so you can relax, absorb the peaceful beauty of the natural surroundings, and help the Sangha set up for the day. Please respect and appreciate Noble Silence during the duration of the formal activities of the day. An opportunity for sharing and mindful conversation will be provided towards the end of the DOM.

This event is free an open to all practitioners. However, your generosity in providing a donation or Dana for the monastic and lay Sanghas is gratefully accepted and encouraged. Your kind donation to our community of practitioners helps the Sangha defray the costs associated with this DOM and supports our activities.

Thich Nhẩt Hạnh’s CDs, DVDs, books, and Sangha T-Shirts with his calligraphy will be available during the DOM.

To register, please e-mail the sangha at info@BrowardLotusSangha.org . Directions and a list of what to bring will be sent to all registered participants. Please register as soon as possible so we can plan the meals for the day.
